Out of the Silent Planet

This book was well written, and interesting, but it was definitely an odd one. You spend the whole book thinking you're supposed to be reading fiction, and then they close the book by telling you, "oh wait this is all true! it really happened." So now I'm left wondering the purpose for this book? Best I can tell, and I haven't researched this, is that this book was meant to challenge your pre-conceived notion of how we live life. It's meant to see if you can resonate with the idea of a supreme power actually creating something in practice that is better than what we have created for ourselves here on earth. I'll have to see if I'm right when I get into book 2 & 3. Although I've heard it's not a satisfying conclusion.
